Job Introduction
International News is at the heart of the BBC. It provides multimedia services to a global weekly audience of over 300 million in English and 27 languages around the clock, every day of the year. The bureaux react to breaking news, provide news updates and analysis and produce live programme output. In a highly competitive market, delivering to both UK License Fee payers and commercial partners, BBC News services must be reliable and consistent. In 2011, Newsgathering, World Service and Monitoring teams came together into one News Group and in 2014, all World Service and Monitoring activity transferred to License Fee funding.

Main Responsibilities
This position will need you to undertake Account Administration, report all jobs undertaken to BSS to ensure they are all logged in the designated job queue in the call logging system and liaise with Broadcast Systems Support teams and third party support groups. You will act as the focal point for all technical issues, represent Broadcast Systems Support ensuring all staff are updated and maintain good working relationship with users. This role will also require you to identify and work to reduce recurring and common technical problems, carry out routine maintenance where required of broadcast facilities and equipment and reset DHD Audio Mixing Console as necessary following any documentation and advice provided. You need to understand the Yellow Tec console and relevant equipment for live broadcast, swap out and shipping of DHD Audio You will Mix Console Modules and assist BSS in trouble shooting faults, coupled with acting as ‘Champion User’ for BBC Desktop and liaise with local 3rd Party Support Suppliers.

The Ideal Candidate
This role will expect you to have experience of providing computer or broadcast systems support, experience of diagnosing and fixing technical problems across a variety of IT and broadcast hardware platforms and an awareness of radio and live TV connectivity using BGan. You will have an awareness of communications e.g ISDN/VSAT, have the ability to demonstrate a logical approach to problem solving and demonstrable interest in current and future technology especially digital production systems. This position will also need you to have the ability to comprehend and communicate on a wide range of technical matters as well as the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with users at all levels in a culturally diverse environment. You will have excellent business support skills with the ability to identify users' requirements and have familiarity and empathy with broadcast environment including an awareness of the pressures facing programme makers.
